Nestled in the foothills of Mt Pirongia, the Sainsbury Road Forest Trails are part of the Pirongia Mountain Bike Club’s network of mountain biking trails.

Around 12 kilometres of off-road trails wind through the Sainsbury road forest west of the township of Pirongia. A kids track and pump track provide great off road children’s cycling, while tracks such as ‘Easy As’, ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘Home and Away’ are great grade 2 (easy) Waikato mountain biking trails.

The intermediate grade trails include ‘Hard Labour’, ‘The Sorcerer’, ‘Tusker’ and ‘Not so easy’ which vary in length and wrap around the forestry access road. Whilst signature tracks include 'Trick or Treat (grade 4) and Alchemy (grade 5), for the more advanced rider.

With new tracks regularly in development, the available trails are always growing, providing something to suit all levels and abilities.

The Mt Pirongia trails have been developed by the Pirongia Mountain Bike Club, which holds regular group rides and events on the trails.

Flight Experience

Friends and Family Flight Experience is a flight in a four seat aircraft you will have a qualified flight instructor and up to two passengers can be there to share the experience. During the flight you can take control, The flight is 20 minutes long and is over hamilton City.

Located 40 min south of Hamilton in Kihikihi is a fully functioning full VR helicopter flight simulator. Great for the individuals, families and or as a team building activity. This helicopter flight simulator is the perfect way for people, young and old, to experience helicopter flying without the costs. It utilises real aircraft airframe and controls, making it an ultra-realistic simulator. It can be experienced on site or hired out for approved events.

Tree Church and Gardens

Set in rural Waikato, the Tree Church and Gardens are a haven for those who love gardens, love trees and love nature. At the heart of the 2.5 hectare (6 acre) garden is a living chapel made of trees grown over an iron frame and adorned with red roses. Visitors find peace and serenity here in the Tree Church, walking the labyrinth or simply resting on the lawns and gazing up at the trees. Joy and beauty are found in the flower beds, the avenues of blossoms and trees, the waterlilies in the pond, the circles of trees. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic, to walk or to sit on the park benches and marvel at the beauty of the garden. Many couples are married in the Tree Church and then celebrate in the indoor and outdoor reception spaces.
